Curaçao Introduces Comprehensive Gambling Regulation Bill to Parliament

A new bill aiming to regulate gambling in Curaçao has been submitted to the country's parliament for approval. This legislation, known as the National Ordinance for Games of Chance (LOK), proposes significant changes to the existing regulatory framework, including adjustments to license types and fees for gambling operators. The transition to this new legislation involves a series of milestones, including the cessation of new extensions or renewals for Master Licenses and a move to direct licensing under the LOK. This regulatory overhaul, initiated in July 2022 and supported by Curaçao's finance minister as a preventive measure against grey-listing by international financial bodies, marks a pivotal shift in the region's gambling landscape.
